Students will be writing persuasive paragraphs in response to the debate yesterday.
"Should we use social media to have important debates?" Requirements before handing in: Introduction: 2-4 sentences using a THESIS statement, stating your position (intrigue the reader!) Body Paragraphs: Give evidence (from the debate, sources you researched, etc) that persuades readers to believe your position in the debate. You need to include 2 body paragraphs, 6-7 sentences each. BE PERSUASIVE!!! Conclusion: 2-4 sentences summarizing your position and restating your thesis in different words. You will have time to work on your rough copy and have it edited by a peer in class. You should also have time to begin and possibly finish your good copy! This written assignment will be due Thursday, February 21 at the beginning of class! You will be handing in your rough copy AND good copy at the beginning of class. Come prepared to debate on Tuesday, February 19th!
You need to take a position (Absolutely, yes but, no but OR no way!) on the question... "Should we use social media to have important debates?" After the debate, you will be completing a written assignment so make sure you come prepared as an active listener and speaker! Good copies of Instagram and Twitter posts are due tomorrow FEBRUARY 13th!! Remember... - you need one post - picture must be detailed and colored - include a caption and hashtags based on your role in the Great Deportation Tweets - 3 or 4 per person - your top 2 are written on the good copy sheet and the remaining 1 or 2 are on a lined piece of paper - follow the 280 character maximum! TOMORROW... we will be writing comments on each other's posts as if they were actually on social media. You will still be writing in your role that you were given. We will also prep for the debate happening on TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 19th! Good copy templates are attached below if you were absent today.
Find the assignment linked below if you were absent today! Roles were assigned today, so begin thinking in the mindset of your role (politician, celebrity, media or citizen). Collectively, each group will come up with 3-4 hashtags that will trend throughout the class. Remember they need to be classroom appropriate! Rough copies will be worked on beginning Monday and then revised before you receive a good copy Instagram page and Twitter posts page. Due date is Wednesday, February 13th!
